Individuals who identify as LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Questioning/Queer) are raised in the same social environment as everyone else, yet are required, at some point or points in their lives, to process through the myriad of challenges they can face. They may have biases and preconceived ideas ingrained in their minds that inhibit them from self-acceptance and living in their truths. They may even have suicidal thoughts or abuse substances to avoid risking emotional, spiritual, or physical pain.
I am knowledgeable about the unique challenges faced by individuals with gender identity and sexual orientation questions, issues, conflicts, and challenges.
My wish is for each person to feel safe and welcome in his, her, or their own family and community.
This can begin in the privacy and safety of my office. I offer knowledge, respect, compassion, and confidentiality to clients questioning their sexual orientation and/or gender identity or require support with coming out to their family, friends, and/or community.
For Family and Friends
I also offer family and friends, struggling with their own reactions to a loved one's identification, a place to learn and process their experiences. Coming to the acceptance of reality, and perhaps even understanding, may need time and space that can be hard to find in our busy world.
